Impact Education: Computational Social Science

Dr Eelke Heemskerk is a busy man. His interests include governance, social data science, consultancy, sailing and kiteboarding. Thankfully, he had some time to speak with REC-Impact about the new bachelor program, Computational Social Science. The goal of this course is to help empower students to develop digital interventions to solve some of the biggest problems facing the world today. He believes that students are impactful problem solvers because they have technical skills and digital know-how, as well as the ability to empathise with problems such as climate change, inequality and sustainability.
